Duct-Work
Duct-Work

With any ventilation system the air moved must be removed and delivered to the exact area required. Duct-work is the term used for the tubing used to convey air to the correct areas.

Duct-work must be correctly sized and installed to avoid leakage and high pressure losses throughout the system. Building and fire regulations apply to ducting systems to avoid the spread of fire throughout building areas. Duct work can be fabricated and installed to suit most applications, our services include...

Air Handling Systems
Air Handling Systems

Air handling units as the name suggests, are units dedicated for the movement of air within building spaces. The air handling unit (AHU) can be designed, built and installed to suit a variety of purposes.

AHU's can be internally or externally mounted in virtually any space, depending upon application. The configuration of AHU's are too diverse to list. Basic units will handle temperature and, or humidity control for the specific spaces served.

Basic AHU's fall into two categories...

Constant volume units....These units provide a constant design air flow for supply and, or extracted air

Variable air volume units...These units provide variable air flows depending on the required amount of ventilation / heating or cooling required

The following popular options are available within any AHU build...

Filtration...a variety of filters are available, standard disposable panel and bag types, Hepa filters, electronic ionisers, UV filtration and wet ted cell types.

Heat recovery...Heat recovery can be achieved by using, mixing dampers, plate or thermal wheel heat exchanges.Heat pipes or run around coils are also used as a means of heat recovery.

Heating...Heating units can be achieved using, low pressure hot water, steam coils, direct or indirect gas burners, heat pumps or direct electric heating elements.

Cooling...Cooling can be achieved using, chilled water coils or direct expansion refrigerant coils, evaporative coolers can also be incorporated.

Humidification...Can be achieved using, steam humidifiers or atomised spray units

Air movement...Is achieved using a variety of direct drive or belt driven fan units to suit the individual application. Fan units can be inverter driven and, or multi speed as required.

Heat Recovery Ventilation
Heat Recovery Ventilation

Heat recovery ventilation is a simple method of reducing heating and cooling costs, that will arise from ventilating a space. If full fresh air is introduced into a space then the air must be heated or cooled to comfortable temperatures...

Heat recovery ventilation is simply a way of recovering a proportion of the extracted heat from within the space served. The recovered heat is then passed to the incoming (fresh air) supply as a means of tempering the air.

The units provide a simple means of extracting stale air and supplying fresh air via an internal heat exchanger. The two air flows are not mixed during the process, and can provide energy efficiencies between 50 ~ 70 %...

In the heating season the room is heated to a comfortable temperature. The heat recovery ventilation unit passes the stale air through the heat exchanger. Incoming fresh air is passed in the opposite direction and is tempered (heated) via the outgoing air. The air streams are not mixed in the process...

In the cooling season the room is cooled to a comfortable temperature. The heat recovery ventilation unit passes the stale air through the heat exchanger. Incoming fresh air is passed in the opposite direction and is tempered (cooled) via the outgoing air. The air streams are not mixed in the process...

The systems range from small domestic type units, to large industrial systems. These units can be fully integrated within air handling plants. Common systems are incorporated for use with split air conditioning systems.

Multi split air conditioning
Multi split air conditioning

The multi split air conditioning system is suited for small commercial or domestic properties.

One outdoor condensing unit can be connected to upto five indoor units.

Each indoor unit is connected via small bore refrigeration pipe work and control services.

The system can only be operated in one mode, at any one time (Example heating or cooling).

However, the indoor units can each have an individual setting within that mode, and do not have to operate all at once etc.

All systems operate using inverter driven technology (variable automatic output) this allows for efficient operation.

Single Split System Air Conditioning
Single Split System Air Conditioning

The Single split air conditioning system is without doubt the most common system installed.

The systems consist of an internal unit, in many diffent configurations, and a matching outdoor condensing unit.

Systems are permanantly installed and attached via small bore refrigerant pipe work and intercoonecting controls.

Distances between indoor and outdoor units can vary from 5m ~ 100 m depending upon system size and type.

Systems are capable of heating and cooling as standard. Most systems are fully inverter driven (with variable automatic output)

These systems must be installed and commissioned by F gas registered engineers.

basic types are explained below...

Wall systems

The simple wall system has the indoor unit installed at high level on a suitable internal wall surface.

The wall unit discharges conditioned air via lower louvers - room air is drawn in at the top of the unit

Controls are typically from an infra-red type, hard wired (wall mounted) can be supplied on certain types

Wall systems are extremely versatile and can be installed  almost anywhere...

Cassette systems

The cassette unit is recessed into a false ceiling void with only a 20 - 30 mm fascia grill exposed within the room area.

Room air is drawn through a central grill and discharged in four separate directions.

Controls are typically from a hard wired (wall mounted) controller

Cassette systems are popular with suspended ceilings / open plan areas...

Ceiling suspended systems

The suspended unit is installed in the corner of the ceiling / wall or bulkhead etc.

Room air is drawn into a lower grill and discharged through a front facing louver

Controls are typically from a hard wired (wall mounted) controller

This systems are ideal for refurbishment of retail areas, where it is acceptable to see the suspended unit

Ceiling concealed (Ducted) systems

The ducted unit is installed within a ceiling void area or bulkhead close or away from the room area served.

The ducted unit is mainly a rectangular box with duct work connections for inlet and outlet air.

The room is air drawn and discharged through dedicated duct work and grills installed separately.

This system allows for great flexibility through design and grill positioning.

Controls are typically from a hard wired (wall mounted) controller

These units are suitable for any space where the unit can be concealed. these systems are highly recommended in large open plan areas...

Floor mounted (low level) systems

The floor mounted system is installed similar to a radiator (at floor level)

Room air is drawn into a lower grill and discharged through a top or, and lower louver

Controls are typically from a hard wired (wall mounted) controller

This systems are suitable for any space, a typical area could be a conservatory...
